Spring Break in Greece & Barcelona!

Hello again!

I’m back to tell you about my spring break in Greece and my weekend trip to Barcelona! I spent around 8 days in Greece. I went to Athens and Zakynthos. I was originally supposed to go to Meteora as well, but I’ll get back to that later. My week started off pretty well. I flew to Greece and relaxed in the Airbnb for the night. The next day I went to the Acropolis to see the most famous sites in Athens. I saw the Parthenon, the Temple of Zeus, Temple of Dionysus, all of that. The Parthenon was under construction, so I couldn’t see the whole thing, but the parts that I could see were beautiful. I also got to see some amazing views of the city. The next day I went to Zakynthos, which is a small island of Greece. It’s a very popular tourist destination, but still lesser known than Santorini and Mykonos. However, what I didn’t realize, is that Zakynthos is a summer only island. Meaning, if it’s not summer, there is nothing open. I spent three days in Zakynthos, and it was a little tough because there was nowhere to get food. Luckily, the host of my Airbnb knew the owner of one of the taverns and asked them to open up while I was there. The tavern only opened for dinner, but one meal a day is better than nothing. After Zakynthos, I was supposed to travel to Meteora. I was going to hike up to see the monasteries. Unfortunately, a really bad storm rolled in, and I was stranded on Zakynthos for another day. Because of the storm, there was no way to travel to Meteora. No flights, ferries, buses, nothing. I had to book another last-minute flight to Athens and spent the last two days of my vacation relaxing in Athens. Overall, Greece was beautiful, but a little stressful.

Barcelona was a similar experience. I went with two of my friends for the weekend. We went to the airport, got checked in, and settled down to wait about 45 minutes before our flight boarded. We had to wait a little longer than 45 minutes. Our flight ended up being delayed for 5 hours. We were supposed to leave at 7:55 pm. We didn’t leave until 12:30 am. We arrived at our hostel in Barcelona a little after 3:30 am. We woke up the next morning and left the hostel to go explore. We saw the Barcelona Cathedral, went to Park Güell, and wandered around the city. After that, we went back to the hostel to take a nap. We had a little trouble with the hostel and ended up having to get a hotel instead. After checking in to the hotel, we chilled in our rooms for the night. The next day we went to the Sagrada Familia, saw one of the Gaudi houses, went to a cute brunch place to eat, and laid out on the beach for a little bit. It was so nice to relax in the sand.

Thanks for reading! Until next time! :)
