Pompeii, Boboli Gardens & More!

This past week has been a blur. We just finished week 3 of classes. It’s been tougher than I expected. I’m in a few classes that relate to Italy (Italian Fashion and Culture, Study Tour, Basic Conversational Italian), but the hardest classes are Product Development and Planning and Buying. We had two projects within the first two weeks for both classes. Luckily, we made it through and this weekend we had a break! Without any projects to work on, I filled my weekend with fun activities.

It all started with a cooking class on Thursday. We made caprese with zucchini, pasta, ravioli, and panna cotta. I was surprised at how easy making pasta is. It’s much simpler than most people realize. And of course, the best part, we got to eat our creations! It was delicious. I will never eat store pasta again.

On Friday, my friend Jonathan and I traveled to Pompeii. After almost missing our train, we made it safely and checked in to our hostel. We got up early the next morning and went to the ruins. We spent all day exploring on our own. We visited Lupanare (the brothel), Villa de Misteri, and all the other sites. At the end of the day, our feet were dead, we were exhausted, but it was a very successful trip.

But wait! That’s still not all. On Sunday, my roommates and I visited Boboli Gardens. It was so beautiful. There are all kinds of statues and fountains. I was so thankful that the rain held off so we could enjoy the sun. It was about 50 degrees outside, so I took full advantage of the weather by leaving my coat at home. I did layer the Everleigh black trench coat over my sweater for extra protection against the wind. I can’t wait to go back when it’s even warmer and all the plants are in full bloom.

Anyway, that’s my update for this week. Hope you enjoyed!

Arrivederci for now!
