Welcome to my blog! My name is Gabriella Humes. I’m currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I am also the social media intern for Everleigh, so all those posts you see on Instagram, Pinterest, and now this blog, I’m doing! I’m so happy you’re reading this right now and I can’t wait to share all my adventures with you! I want this blog to be your door to Florence. I plan on talking about the places I visit, restaurants I get to try, the best gelato places, what to wear (everyone here is always dressed to the nines), and hopefully convince you that Florence should be on everyone’s bucket list.
I’ve only been in Florence for three days and I’m already so in love with this place. The architecture is amazing. There are so many amazing places that I get to see often. I get to walk past the Duomo and the Florentine Baptistry every day on my way to school. There’s a beautiful library that used to be a convent where students go to study all the time. It’s called the Biblioteca delle Oblate. Considering there’s also a coffee shop on the top floor, I will be here all the time doing my homework and/or reading.
I also found my favorite café yesterday. It’s called La Menagere and it is a café, a flower shop, and a shop for mugs, plates, and bowls. The coffee was incredible. I was a little scared to try Italian coffee because I knew it was going to be very different from American coffee. In America we can get 3 pumps of this, flavor shots, sauces, whipped cream, etc. Italian coffee is so simple. For example, I got a caffe latte, and it was just espresso and milk. Nothing extra, and I loved it. Way better than American coffee (no offense to Starbucks). Tonight, my roommates and I are going to get gelato and explore the city some more.
Make sure to check back in next week to hear all about it! Thanks for reading!
